I am originally from southern California and spent as much time as I could at the beach. But, I also love to snow ski! So when my husband was transferred to Colorado at the end of 2010, I quickly jumped at the chance to live near the Rocky Mountains and happily made the move to Fort Collins. We feel so grateful for the opportunity to live in such a beautiful, family friendly location!
My immediate family consists of my husband who I have been married to for 16 years, my high school freshman son, Tyler, and my 8th grade daughter, Ava. We enjoy spending time together visiting family, skiing, camping, bike riding, fishing, and hiking when we are not at the soccer fields. But, it seems most weekends we are somewhere in Colorado cheering on our kids' soccer teams! I am the oldest of five and the only member of my family living outside of California. They think I am crazy for moving away from the beach, but I am hopeful they will eventually follow me to the mountains.
After graduating from UCLA, I entered the education profession as a 6th grade teacher. Since 1993, I have been involved in a variety of education positions that have included teaching 3rd, 4th, & 6th grades, home bound teacher, staff developer, instructional coach, and an administrator. No matter the position beyond the classroom walls, I always knew at some point I would return to the heart of the education world and once again work directly with children in the classroom. Moving to Colorado provided the perfect opportunity to return to where I am the happiest, and I feel very fortunate to be working at Bethke as a 4th grade teacher! It is a privilege, and a lot of fun, to spend my days working with your children.
